The kooky SYFY series Resident Alien, which stars Alan Tudyk as an alien who takes over the persona of a guy named Harry Vanderspeigle, has gained a loyal following over its first three seasons.
The series’ third season premiered this February on SYFY and Peacock, and according to Deadline, the show will have a season four, albeit on a different network.
That network is USA, which—like SYFY and Peacock—is owned by NBCUniversal. The move, according to Deadline, was the only way Resident Alien would get a fourth season and will also mean that the show will have a lower budget than it enjoyed at SYFY. The trade also suggests that the parent company’s decision to move the show was in part done to expose it to a broader audience.
And what will that broader audience see? Here’s the official synopsis for the show:
The show was adapted for television by Chris Sheridan, who will continue to showrun over at USA. The move means that the only original scripted series left at SYFY are Reginald the Vampire, SurrealEstate, and The Ark. Chucky is currently “owned” by both SYFY and USA. There’s no news yet on whether the horror comedy will get another season and, if so, where it will find a home under the NBCU umbrella.
We don’t have details yet on when we’ll see season four of Resident Alien on USA. While we wait for more news, you can watch all three seasons of Resident Alien on Peacock or catch the first two seasons on Netflix.
